White Oak teachers receive training from Project Wild

Project Wild is an international organization that focuses on wildlife conservation efforts. Project Wild is committed to providing educational materials and resources to educators. Our first training session produced enthusiastic participation by a number of East Texas school districts. The training is both physical (I’m very sad to say, we had one broken arm) and intellectual. We understandably had mixed reviews about our first efforts but the “buy in” was certainly sufficient to continue. White Oak had more teachers participating than any other school district present and the overall project is funded by a grant from Texas parks and Wildlife.  The grant includes money for further training, substitutes, equipment including laptops for field testing of water quality, and support to develop skills in creating virtual walking tours and virtually guided walking tours.

Well well….. Here we go!

As we embark on our new adventure, the creation of an outdoor education program, I thought we should have a place to document and enrich the experiences of those wandering the paths of our 23 acre arena. I have created just such a place. Come and share. http://www.woisd.net/moodle/ Pick Nature Center 101. If you do not have an account feel free to create one.
